Security deposits can be processed as authorizations. Usually, online payment authorization holds can be up to 4-5 days, but Stripe supports extended holds on online payments up to 30 days.

Step 1 - Request enabling extended authorization hold with Stripe support.

Review the Stripe article here, and reach out to Stripe support to request enabling the extended authorization hold for online payments. Please explain that you are in the car rental industry.

Step 2 - Enable the setting in the payment gateway

Go to the Stripe Online payment gateway and enable the setting “ Allow extended authorization holds (up to 30 days)”.

Step 3 - Verify and update the max days to keep authorizations

Go to Settings > Payment Gateways > Settings. Set “Max Days to Keep Authorizations” to 30 days. Consider setting it to 29 days, since Visa supports holds up to 29 days and 18 hours.
